Through the first four confidence classes, we have talked about how to look at things differently. We looked at the way we see ourselves, our situations, and how we see others. By looking at things differently, we start to change what we see!
When I was a teacher, I always stressed that the negative is about the easiest thing to find in any situation. It takes a person of higher intellect to look beyond the obvious negatives to find the some of those hidden positives. To combat those negatives in the world, we need to find our positives. The easiest way to do this is by getting yourself in the attitude of gratitude.
Start looking at all of the things in your life that you can be grateful for. You can start with something as simple as being grateful for having eyes to read. Once you start to focus on the things you are grateful for, you start to magnify your feeling of gratefulness. This is a powerful buoying force of positive energy! This is how you can start to change the tide, not only in your life but in the lives of the people you touch.
I am always reminded of the song “Soak Up the Sun” by Sheryl Crow and the lyric “It’s not having what you want. It’s wanting what you‘ve got”. Wanting what you have and feeling that gratitude instead of lamenting everything you don’t have, changes it all!
